Qualcomms SnapDragon Specification - Read it.

There has been a lot of hubbub on what the SnapDragon actually is, does and is capable of supporting. So here it is, the definitive guide (just read their website stupid) and prepare to be stupefied.

What is is not:
SnapDragon is NOT a CPU
SnapDragon is NOT a Graphics accelerator
SnapDragon is NOT a 3G chip-set
SnapDragon is not a pet.

What is IS:
SnapDragon is/supports ALL of these technologies. SnapDragon is a platform on which mobile manufacturers can build their mobile devices on.

SnapDragon supports up to WXVGA (1280x720), up to 12MP digital camera's and up to 720p video decode.

The graphics power of the SnapDragon platform is impressive:
High-performance 3D graphics – up to 22M triangles/sec and 133M 3D pixels/sec

Codec support is also a lengthy list, as well as support for Mobile broadcast TV (MediaFLO).

GPS support includes built-in seventh-generation gpsOne® engine with Standalone-GPS and Assisted-GPS modes

While a lot of websites claim the CPU registers at 1GHz, and others say 600MHz. The truth is the main CPU runs at 1GHz while the DPS (digital signal processor) runs at 600Mhz.

Google punches everyone in the face with the REAL ANDROID

Ouch! That smarts. Who did that? It's Google you fool. This is what is going to happen, whether slowly or, in a whirlwind of punch-to-face ratio. With Google on the board for the OS, the hardware supervision and their own experimental stuff (gears, etc) this is going to show the world just what a mobile OS is all about.

I was waiting patiently for the Sony X10 AND the HTC Passion with SnapDragon guts to come around - but it looks like the NEXUS ONE is going to hit the market at just about the same time. As I yepled earlier - OUCH!

It wasn't supposed to exist. "The" Google Phone. Then we (and others) heard otherwise. And now, Google isn't just handing this "sexy beast" out to employees, they're going to sell it directly. Everything has changed. Here's what we know.

• The Wall Street Journal says it's made by HTC and called the Nexus One. It'll be sold online, directly by Google. You'll have to get your own cell service (which suggests it's an unlocked device). Curiously, the WSJ says, "unlike the more than half-dozen Android phones made by phone manufacturers today, Google designed virtually the entire software experience behind the phone." Sounds weird, since they designed the look and feel of the software on the Droid and G1 too, except that our source had told us before that the current Android we know isn't the "real" Android. Also odd sounding: that name, Nexus One. But maybe not that odd.

• Google confirmed they handed out "a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities and we shared this device with Google employees across the globe."

• A bunch of Google employees tweeted stuff like the phone is "like an iPhone on beautifying steroids."

SanDisk Cruzer Micro 16GB (I need, and will have)
In Forum: GIZMOFO!

I remember some years ago when I saw a 2GB USB (usb v1.1!) cost me about $200. I had to have it.. I mean, 2GIGABYTES! How much stuff could fit on it? Well, every PC program I was using at the time for backups.. tons of MP3's, my resume, and photos of my favorite people.

WELL after buying a 4GB a couple years later and pretty much loading that up as well with even more odd-and-ends, the two USB drives are not large enough NOR are they comfortable in my pocket. So I found this SandDisk Cruzer 16GB model, which is the sweet-spot when it comes to capacity and cost. Every memory card I own is a SandDisk so its pretty much a no brainer for me. Not to mention its tiny, is retractable (wont lose the cap now like my old ones!) and fits on my key chain - which is more than I can say for the ones I used to carry.

16GB - SanDisk Cruzer® Micro 16GB.

* Convenient. So light and portable, it can be taken anywhere.
* Smart design. No more lost caps! Retractable USB connector prevents accidental breakage and prolongs product life.
* Key chain ready. Small size makes it easy to carry with a set of keys.
* Ideal for Video. The easy way to store, share and play your favorite video files

Motorola CLIQ Runs Android - speeding towards T-Mobile.

If I said I liked Moto phones, half the people I know whould grunt. Motorola? Yet, 5 years ago they were all using RAZR's. Buncha....

Anyway, this is the New CLIQ from Moto and it walks, talk and spits out social skills like a postwar flapjack. And no, I do not know what that means. The spec's look nice, though I have yet to see the real guts like CPU class, and ram/rom. I am goign to assume it uses And1.5 (cupcake) but one never knows. Hopefully it is around the $150 mark on contract.

Quote:

Motorola just announced its first Android handset, the Cliq, which is headed to T-Mobile by the fourth quarter, or in time for the holidays. As you'd expect, it runs the new MOTOBLUR Android skin, and Moto's calling it "the first phone with social skills" to highlight the social networking integration. It'll come in two colors, Winter White and Titanium, and have 3G, WiFi, and a five megapixel camera that'll also shoots 24fps video. Internationally, the Cliq will be known as the DEXT, and it'll be on Orange, Telefonica, and America Movil. It will also be far less ugly than we all expected from those Morisson leaks.

Bluetooth Alert Jewelry?

I think this is something I could get into - a BT bracelet, or a watch, heck even a ring that vibrated when a phone call came in. One thing I do not like to do is keep my ringer on. I like to be as convert and quiet as possible in public places, and I don't need to bring any extra attention to myself (being a covert private person)... so these devices work out pretty well. The question is, which one? You have the simple bracelet that just vibrates and has a blue led when paired with your cell. Then, there is the one-upper that has a small LED display that will tell you the phone number of the person calling - nice. Lastly, if the mother (currently) of all BT wrist gear stuffs - a wristwatch that will display the caller ID name and number, is a watch, and also not bad looking to boot. They are of varying price range from about $25-$80. There aren't many of these out there, so I imagine once (and if) they become more common place, the prices will come down. In the meantime, I am thinking of taking the plunge.

Nokia to iPhone: uSuck. iRule.

Well, well well. Look at what we have here. Sure, its got a resistive screen - but this is good if you live in cold weather! Check out those video demos and be prepared to pick your melted face up from off the floor in a bucket.

Quote:

In backwards order, Nokia has finally launched the N900 after we've already seen a review and countless leaks. Nevertheless, it's good to have the new Maemo 5 Internet Tablet out in the open and official-like. The specs include a 3.5-inch 800x480 pixel (resistive) touchscreen, sliding QWERTY, 32GB of on-board storage expandable to 48GB via microSD, GPS/A-GPS, FM transmitter, TV-out, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, 1320mAh battery, and 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual-LED flash. Better yet, this monster MID brings the power of the ARM Cortex-A8, up to 1GB of application memory, and OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics acceleration to make quick work of polygons and what Nokia promises will be a "PC-like experience on a handset-sized device." It also brings a Mozilla-based Maemo browser with Adobe Flash 9.4 support. As expected, it'll be on display at Nokia World next week before this quad-band GSM/EDGE, 900/1700/2100MHz UMTS/HSPA handset heads to select markets in October for €500 (pre tax and pre carrier subsidy). And by the looks of that 1700MHz band, this baby's heading to T-Mobile USA.

Stop hijacking my interests on the way to your home page

This is something that truly pisses me off. I am surfing my regular sites, and ALLASUDDEN (!) I get an advertizement before getting pased along to the real home page I am supposed to be going to. I liken this to those semi-FuTardial people at the malls (ihatemalls) with their fancy carts that ask you "can I ask you a kwestyun?.. does you has a GF or a Wife? NO I dont have a GF of a wife, and I have no room in my life for happiness or your stupid skin cream. G.O. A.W.A.Y. This hijacking/stalking/hostaging/terroristic act of forcing me to look at some ad that might not even suite my demographic is a crime in itself. I don't mind that you want me to check out ads on your cool home pages, but really, forcefacef*cking me into seeing your ad beforehand is downright assholy. There are several sites that I could name here, but I will not, because I would be advertizing them, and they don't need the publicity. Not that anyone importing is reading this post, but I felt the need to stab your eyes with my bluntFORWARDness and bring up the topic. Thanks, but no thanks!

CrunchPad Web Tablet coming - about $300
In Forum: Tablet PC, Laptop, Ultra-Personal Computing

This is the type of thing I Like. Ultraportable computing. Although it does seem limited to web surfing and probably email or messaging - those things are always there just to suck you in with simplicity. Once users start asking for more - devices like this typically morph into more advanced tablets. Looking forward to trying this - and owning it. It will go nice in my dash!

Quote:

Gizmodo says:
Mike Arrington's CrunchPad web tablet, already several prototypes in, is quickly bubbling to reality reports Bits: There's going to be an announcement in July or August, and it'll be available "as soon as possible."

Arrington's incorporated a separate company, called CrunchPad, and has apparently spent two-thirds of the last six months working on it with his 15-man team from Fusion Garage.

It's been iterated a bunch before, but worth saying again, that the Atom-powered touchscreen CrunchPad is strictly for internet consumption—it boots directly into the WebKit browser and there's no hard drive or keyboard, though you can plug in a keyboard if you want. It does support for Flash, so Arrington's claim that compared to netbooks, "most people will find it works as good as a netbook or better" for getting their internet on sounds pretty reasonable, given its 12-inch screen. Pointedly, it's not meant to compete with Apple's mythical tablet, whenever it graces the world.

I'd take the under $300 CrunchPad over a netbook any day, since it seems like it'll surpass them at the one thing they were supposedly designed to do—eat the internet. And it still blows my mind it took a tech blogger to actually make it happen.

T-Mobile myTouch 3G Gets Official, Preorders Start July 8

I have to buy this. I am never satisfied. Even if it is the same hardware as the G1 (my current comm), it doesn't matter. I want it - I will have it. It will be mine. Besides, my G1 is an original and HAS the original SQUEEKY hinge THING that most early hardware on the G1 had. Time to get rid of the hardware KB for good (for now!). Check out that sleek vett-like profile.

T-Mobile's second Android phone, the myTouch 3G (previously known as the HTC Magic which we reviewed here), has finally been announced in an official capacity for $200. Its official official name is the "T-Mobile myTouch 3G with Google".

It's basically the same specs as we've seen in other incarnations, and it'll work with T-Mobile's 3G frequencies. We'll take a look at what customizations T-Mobile has put on the phone, but for a general idea of what to expect of this one over the original T-Mobile G1, take a look at our review of the Google Ion.

Smartphone Buyers Guide: The Best of the Best

Talk about gang-bangers! I would just like to buy them all and call it a headache. I have th G1 and iPhone-3G. It is just a matter of time for the WebOS - but I don't think Vzw will ever have a phone slurpy enough for me to want to sign anything with them.

Quote:

As the dust settles from the last two weeks of mobile madness, one question remains unanswered: Which of the new generation of smartphones should you actually buy? We've collected everything you need to know.

We've selected the five phones that most feel like modern handsets to us—the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G S, the Palm Pre, the HTC Magic (or, as we soon expect, the T-Mobile G2) and the BlackBerry Storm—and broken them down by hardware, software and cost. This is a guide in the strictest sense, meaning we aren't declaring winners or losers, just giving you the information you need to make your own choice. So! On with the matrices.
