Danger Close To Deal With Second Handset Partner

Postby Administrator » Mon Nov 14, 2005 8:28 am

Danger yesterday announced they will most likely announce a second manufacturer partner before the end of the year. The company would not reveal or hint at the new partner, but did say the are seeking to bring their devices to new markets. Last year Danger exited the hardware business and turned manufacturing of the Hiptop over to Sharp. The company wanted to focus on software development and hoped to license the OS to multiple manufacturers. However Danger said they currently have the resources to only add about one new manufacturer per year.

Could you imagine if Danger licensed the OS to another company to freely come up with a new design to market? Sony? Nokia? Probably would not happen, but what the hell... Palm makes a WINMO device, and a Palm device - and they are rumored to come up with a Symbian model... so, who the hell knows what could happen in the next few years.

I wonder if a standard would have to be the swivel -- I also wonder what other screen resolutions the Danger OS supports.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
